This giant shark is up to 5m long and it is the largest white shark ever caught. The previous record was a 1.2-ton shark caught in Australia in 1959.
Mr. Hales is the managing director of construction services company Zone Cee, in Hall Green. He said that after the animal took a bite, he had to fasten the fishing rod to a chair on the boat and let the shark drag the boat around until it got tired.
Mr. Hales struggled for two hours to "conquer" the giant fish. “You would never want an angry giant shark wrestling right next to the boat when it is still very healthy. Just one small mistake, you can fall to the bottom of the sea," he said.
The businessman added: "Just like in the movie Jaws, I thought I needed a bigger boat. In the end, I just couldn't believe I caught such a big shark."
